Escherichia coli CONTAMINATION AND ITS RESISTANCE TO ANTIBIOTICS IN SE’I MEAT

The purpose of this study was to obtain Escherichia coli isolates from 11 se’i meat sellers in Kupang City and observe their resistance to13 types antibiotics. were isolated identified based on SNI 2897: 2008. Antibiotic the colii determined using Kirby-Bauer method. results showed that 13 (39.39%) samples had a high level erythromycin (100%), tetracycline (76.92%), doxycycline (61.54%). Isolates demonstrated increased streptomycin (46.15%), cephalothin (38.46%), trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole amoxicillin (30.77%), chloramphenicol choline sulfate (30.77%). antibiotics nalidixic acid ciprofloxacin low (7.69%). are sensitive cefotaxime gentamicin. A total 12 (92.31%) experienced MDR. presence non-MDR MDR resistant can seriously threaten community health.
